Why we ask for both
A file number on its own is not a password. Ours run in sequence, so anybody holding one could work out the next — and a list of pending closings, with addresses and dates, is exactly what someone running a wire-fraud scheme would want.
So the number identifies the file and the email proves you are on it. We send the link only to an address already recorded on the transaction, and the message above is the same whatever you type, so nothing can be learned by guessing.
Didn’t get it?
- Check the address. It has to be the one on the file. If your agent or lender opened the order, the first email may have gone to them.
- Look in spam. It comes from [email protected].

One thing worth repeating
We never send or change wiring instructions by email, and no page on this site will ever carry them. Before any funds move, call us at a number you have checked independently and confirm out loud. More on closing safety →
